On Saturday 17 March, the Australian Fighting Championship will venture to Perth, Western Australia, for the very first time and showcase a mixed martial arts card stacked with domestic talent headlined by a Welterweight Title Fight between UFC veteran Anton Zafir and perennial Welterweight standout Theo Christakos.

Anton and Theo stamped their tickets to this huge title fight back at AFC 20 when they were victorious in the Welterweight Tournament bracket fights against Hoshi Friedrich and Abdullah Abou Hamdan respectively. On that night, Anton ground ‘n’ pounded his way to a dominant first round victory over a game Hoshi and Theo stopped Abdullah after demonstrating a striking master class. Now these two mixed martial arts warriors will meet with the coveted AFC Welterweight Strap on the line in Perth.

In the com-main event, Middleweight standouts Glenn Sparv and Stu Dare will battle it out for the vacant AFC Middleweight Title. Both have long been positioned in the top 3 middleweights in the Country, and come March 17 they’ll get to throw down to determine who is rightfully #1.

The card will also see the return of the ‘Steamrolla’ Steven Kennedy, and will also showcase some of the best fighters from Western Australia and abroad. As if that enough, the AFC Perth Card will also house the AFC debut of Australia’s strongest man, Alex Simon.
This will be the first of 4 trips the AFC will make to Perth in 2018, with return dates set for 9 June, 29 September and 1 December. The Perth events will be accompanied by a number of co-promoted AFC and KLF Kunlun Fight events in Melbourne with the first taking place in May; the rest of the Melbourne dates will be released in the coming days.

After a successful year last year which included an international fight card in Xian China, and a ground breaking partnership with KLF Kunlun Fight, the AFC will continues to grow in leaps and bounds and in 2018 will again prove why it is considered one of the premier promotions in Australasia.

The full AFC Perth card will be released this week; tickets will be on sale on Friday.
